the day I finally got my s*** together
I just couldn't take it any longer. Something had to be done. Small parts storage can be a pain and I had to solve it. This is my take on making the best possible storage solution / assortment cabinet I could.

I think this kind of tech is amazing and exciting. Obviously this is an industrial type printer for prototyping, but you don't know what the future will bring and whether this kind of tech might become more affordable. As for materials, sure, most people like wooden furniture, the truth is, most of them are cheap fakes anyway, with a wooden type of cover on top of them. The same could be done with a printer. It's the natural course of things, with manual labor becoming more and more irrelevant and knowledge and skills becoming more and more important. If you never made furniture before, what good is a printer to you for this intention? But say you make something else entirely or you have specific knowledge on something, then the printer enables you to build those things. These things are super slow, I don't see them replacing traditional industrial processes any time soon. There is potential though, in the future they could do this. I don't see this as bad either. Maybe you won't have a car factory and a boat factory, you'd have a generic factory with industrial printers. A car maker could then use the services of a printing factory. Car prices could come down. The cost of them, or anything, at least will. And what if this tech become affordable to everyone? All the better. The list of things people will be able to build or do will be endless and depending on their knowledge and skills rather than money. Then, the current industrial system as it stands, is kinda forced to do unnecessary things like say worldwide advertising to maintain large buyer numbers, cause that's the only way to maintain relatively low prices, through mass production, molds, and copies. Printing can change all that, you won't need this to maintain a relatively low cost and price. This also means, those multi nation businesses might go out of business. This tech will enable smaller players, businesses and people to work in what they know. As it stands, no matter if you are the best mechanic and designer in the world, if you don't work for the top car manufacturers, either cause you happen to live in some country they don't have offices, or because out of bad luck you didn't get there, this will still give you the chance to compete with them. They, the big businesses are gonna be at a disadvantage not small ones. Countries who use those multi national businesses to exert power over smaller countries, all that is gonna be gone. I can see a ton of potential for everyone, this tech could free the world at least in some aspects. It has the potential of making traditional power structures crumble and fail if they have been there for other reasons rather than what they do. A monopoly in some kind of manufacturing won't survive if you are not exceptionally good and you have to compete with average Joe's creations small business and his printer. Average Joe could be more than average, and your multi national behemoth you built with unfair practices, conquest or war, could be too slow. Also, he does not need you, he does not have to give you his CV for your evaluation. He can tell you to fuck right off, and you better be really good at what you do or he will make you go bust and sink. So yeah, I just can't wait for this tech to become even better or affordable to all. Then, why limit yourself to plastics? Why not metals, some kind of metal composites material suitable for printing? Different kinds of printing composites with analogous properties to say aluminum, steel, whatever, this would be awesome. This tech is just great!!!!

Greenboy3D a new UA-cam channel is developing a pellet extruder that I think will be available soon. It is swap able onto most printers. Bulk buying raw plastic pellets is extremely cheap compared to filament. It’s worth looking into. Everything I know about pellet extruders comes from his videos, and I hope it lives up to the promise.

id put the dust collector outside in a small shed, keeps all the mess outside, a second floor could be used for photography and 3d printing keeping the space clean. id put ceiling joists across the entire space even if you dont use the whole floor at once, later you can add an elevator to store materials upstairs., and ive learnt over time not to beat myself up about mistakes ive made when doing projects.cheers

PLA+ is a lot stronger than regular PLA, and doesn't need an enclosure or anything special. Just prints at a little bit higher temperature. It's all I use now, regular PLA is garbage by comparison.

Its actually funny that you used the printer to do stuff its clearly not able to compete with. Obviously a wood working shop will be able to create that chair for a few bucks. However, if you would use the printer for things that a wood working shop cant, the amount of effort flips in favor for this printer. As soon as the geometry of the end product becomes highly complex you wont be able to recreate it in a wood working shop without serious amounts of manual labour. Rectangles and circular shapes aside. Try making a chair with Gyrode legs in a wood working shop. Or complex integral shapes within the support structure. There are certain kinds of elements like frescoes or other design elements that might take days of scraping and sanding, that can be printed easily. This is what 3D printing was initiatilly intended. I could print small storage boxes with my printer, but I dont because you can get those on Amazon in a pack of 20 for a few bucks. Instead I use my printer for simple mechnical parts without durability requirements or just small art projects.

Everyone keeps commenting about crappy firmware when all you need to do is swap the motherboard, which is extremely inexpensive to do,and you magically have different firmware. I built my own corexy printer and its quite easy to do as well as fairly easy to change any part on them,if the frames solid you can achieve almost anything by swapping a few parts.

Success with an Etsy shop is hit-or-miss just like having a UA-cam channel. I have over 65k subs on my channel yet I'm not monetized, so zero income, even with millions of views. I also created an Etsy shop a few years ago (totally unrelated) and while it will never generate enough income to be my primary income I have had several thousand sales. You just have to keep throwing out different ideas until something sticks. The alternative is getting a "real job" and working for someone else, like 99% of the world. We're the 1% who actually dare to do something different. It eventually pays off.

Nice work, but the costs involved in this are out of reach for a lot of people, you could probably purchase a decent table router for what you paid for your festool plunge saw! Having said that, it does look bloody awsome
